The first "Friends in Harmony" concert featuring the combined choirs of Worrall and Bolsterstone MVCs commenced at 7pm at Christ Church Stocksbridge.   A full house greeted the 70 + voices of the combined choirs of Bolsterstone and Worrall as they took to the stage, for what promised to be a magical evening of music.   They were joined by 18 young people from Stocksbridge Junior School and ere led by their music teacher.

Throughout the evening the choirs managed to sing pieces in German, Latin, Zulu with some English words thrown in.   The young people from school excelled themselves, introducing their own items and singing their first two items unaccompanied: during their second spot, they were accompanied by a backing track and had now lost all signs of nerves, singing confidently and with excellent diction, receiving rapturous applause.

Sadly the Choir had to say goodbye to two long standing members recently - Roy Wilkinson and Frank Street.   Roy was a stalwart supporter of the Choir and the Ladies Support Group even after having to retire as a singing member due to ill health.   Frank was also a Committee member of longstanding and was our "quartermaster" who looked after our uniform and choir merchandise sales.   They will both be sadly missed

The choir took part in a concert to help raise funds for "Amy's House" at Christ Church, Stannington commencing at 7:00pm.   We were joined by the Sheffield Cathedral Young Voices - you can read more about them by clicking on the link here, and look for the section on the "Young Voices" on that page.

The choir started the concert by singing 5 pieces - these included "When the Saints go marching in" (arranged by Hood), and "The Lord's Prayer" by Albert Hay Malotte (arranged by Deis).  The Cathedral Young Voices then sang 5 pieces including "Amazing Grace" (arranged by Peters), and "Blackbird" by The Beatles.    The choir then concluded the first half of the concert by singing "With cat-like tread" by Sullivan (arranged by Rapley), and "Phantom of the Opera medley" by Lloyd Webber (arranged by Wiltshire).

After a short interval,  Maurice Littlewood gave a short talk about the charity - if you would like to read more, click on the link here.   The choir then sang 5 more pieces to conclude the concert - including "Anthem" [from Chess] by Andersson and Ulvaeus (arranged by James), and "The Lost Chord" by Sullivan (arranged by Simmons). The concert raised £ 300 for the "Amys House" charity.
